I just bought the JBL GH test kit after exhausting my AP test kit. Anyone has experience in it?

I asked because the instruction says that I should add the agent drop by drop till the colour change from red to green. However, when I use it, it was never red nor green . I mean it started with light brown colour, then darker brown as I add the agent, there was never green. I suspect that the agent has expired as the kit looks very old to me.

    Anyone comments?

Note: my water GH has 3 degree on average.

I think it is expired. I had a Sera one with the same problem. No matter how many drops you add... no colour change.

I think in a good set, the original colour of the solution is green. Expired one will have a brownish colour.

Why not return and ask for replacement?

    bc Lee,

Thanks. I am not sure the shop would beleive me. The one I bought was their last one and the box and instruction are covered with fungus. I believe the shop (a bit run-down) do not use such kit and hence, will not be able to know if the kit is faulty. Ok, I will try returning this evening. Thanks.

Proving the kit is faulty isn't a problem. Just show them. If they can't give a replacement, ask for fish food in exchange : )

I was back to the shop and tried to return the test kit. As I expected, the owner does not know how to use it; I had to actually tell him that he need to shake the tube after adding the drops of agent. Eventually, he was convinced that it is faulty.

I was trying to look for replacement items from his shop but there was really nothing for me (chilids shop). He offered to replace me a new one by claiming warranty from his supplier which would probably a week or two later. However, I told him that I could not wait and he finally refunded me unwillingly. I am not sure if I did the right thing.[]
