    Hello all,

I have a 2litre CO2 cylinder and I think it leaks. I will like to dispose it. Where can I throw it away? Just leave it at the rubbish collecting point?

Better still, can I sell it to scrap metal dump and get some money back?

All your contribution is much appreciated,

    Wahboy 91705009

Not sure if the rag and bone man will buy it off you.
Regardless, please make sure you open the main tap and release all the gas before disposing it.

footballe, if its leaking, highly unlikely that it can be repaired safely cos of the high pressures involved. Give those karang guni man and they will know who to sell it to for it to be re-melted.

given the current depressed prices for scrap metals, karang guni man may not want it. before you dispose it, do ensure that you release all the gas in the cylinder.
you can place the cylinder in recycling bins.

depent where the leaking is, if it is on the valve then it should fixable.

And yes, if the cylinder per se is leaking, then it is definitely not safe to consider any manner of repair. I don't think any lfs/ topping facility would want to even entertain this kind of request. It must have been corroded or have seen better years to have reached such a state. However, if the valve is leaking then it's a different story. Just don't want a disaster to happen from a well-intentioned but wrong piece of advice.
hehe, no offense taken. I also didn't check properly before reply. If valve leak, think it can be repair. If not wrong, my friend repaired that for $2.

Make sure its totally empty, then bring it to your LFS where you get it refilled.

Tell them its leaking somewhere, and you want to see if it can be fixed. They should be able to just pass it on to their CO2 refilling agent, who should be able to do any of the necessary repairs, if the cylinder is still serviceable.

If it isn't you can just leave the cylinder with them to recycle, I'm sure they won't mind.
