Anybody know where can I get this medication? Need this to kill the hydra in my tank ungently.

good ol blue eyes love planaria, they should eat hydra too

Another name for Flubendazole is Flubenol. It in the form of white powder.

Flubendazole is the drug name. "Flubenol 5%" is one the trade name under which it is marketed. It might also be sold as Flumoxal, Flumosane and Fluvermal.

Being a veterinary deworming prescription, it's effective against nematodes, tapeworms and found a new usage in aquarium treatment against hydra. IMHE, it has negative impact against shrimps, frys and plants.

From the grapevine, Fenbendazol (sold as "Panacur&quot, is also said to be effective against hydra but I have no experience with that (and I'm not a vet).

So book an appointment and go visit a vet (and bring along your dog!).

I've tried getting it from the vet but they just refuse to sell them as it must be prescribe by the vet doc.

I'm using it for my Aphyosemion bivittatum Lagos tank to kill the hydra. There was a outbreak of hydra due to over feeding of BBS to the breeding tank. I think I'll have no choice but to pick the eggs out and incubate them separately.

Prescribed drugs were never meant to be sold 'over-the-counter' in the first place. What is the size of the breeding tank you're treating?

I have those killies at heart (gorgeous fish btw) and looking forward to acquiring some myself, so what say you, if I trade some of my 5% for your future BIV eggs? (win-win situ, no?)

You'll probably need just a pinch or two for a 2-6gal tank (yes, it's THAT effective !).

Also, viewing other's setup is something I consider a privilege, a learning experience and a honor to be invited <hint hint>.

Hi Ronnie,

As for BIV, I've pronlem collecting their eggs. They always get fungised. I'll rather let them hatch natually in the breeding tank. Don't worry once I've them, I'll write to you. But it'll be awhile as the more dominant male is dead. Hope that the other male will take over the role.

Keep in touch. Would like to learn from more on killifish as you're on of the early starter on killies in Singapore.

As for my tank setup, mine is quite similar to Kwek Leong's. I've smaller tank for breeding and slightly bigger ones for frys grow out.
