hi everyone... i got 4 test kits at the moment... wad other kits do i need to purchase?

    Sera kH Test Kit
    Sera nH3/nH4 Test Kit
    Sera pH Test Kit
    Sera CO2 Test Kit

and how u all manage to get the co2 readings? coz my co2 test kit only consists of 1 container to keep some aquarium water.. there is a colour chart, saying too high or too low co2 level thats all...
Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

You should have a NO3 and Fe test kit and maybe a PO4 if you are a beginner.

CO2 test kit that you have is only an indicator perhaps.
Knowing your KH and pH you find can out the CO2 concentration.
Check out this link to learn more about KH pH and CO2.

actualy since u have pH and kH testkits, CO2 testkit is not really required since these 3 are related ... 2 of these readings will give u the third parameter

if ur tank has been cycled already, nitrite and ammonia testkits also not needed ... perhaps NO3 (nitrate) will help ... last u wanna consider is Fe testkit (i dun use this) ... although many say not reliable ... hope tis helps

pH and KH test kit (For determining CO2 concentration)
NH3/NH4 and NO2 test kit (Used generally for tank startup)
NO3, PO4, GH, Fe (For micro-management of nutrients or detecting problems like how come algae is blooming.)

Plants basically needs large amount of macro-nutrients --- N (Nitrate), P (Phosphate), K (Potassium), Mg (Magnesium), Ca (Calcium) --- to grow and small amount of Micro-nutrients (available from commercial products like TMG, Flourish and etc.)

    Recommend Concentration

Nitrate: 5-10ppm (5ppm seems better as plants like rotala macrandra do badly when nitrates are near 10ppm or over.)

Phosphate: 0.5-1ppm (Never go below 0.2 as nitrate uptake will slow down dramatically --- Tom Barr mention that to me..)

    Potassium: 20-30ppm

GH: Hard to say ...I am abit loss on this (My tap water has a GH of 3..seems ok at the moment.)

Micro-nutrients: Dose according to new leaves colour..some use Fe test kit but might not be accurate.

Basically, I do still working on it as well....cannot drop the nitrate level no matter what I did..LOL. (Everything seems to be in place and nitrate shooting up to high levels has been solved. Now the problem is dropping it...or maybe the sera test kit is no good at measuring small changes as my nitrate is stucked at 5ppm.)
