Kh (Alkaline) does not really affect CaCO3 for aquarium standards but it will affect Ph level. If you up your Kh using Alkaline buffer you will raise your Ph. As for CaCO3, they are the main ingredients for producing hard water condition that is termed as GH (General hardness).
Potassium does not cause Calcium deficiency. It is when there is a lack of Potassium in the water parameter, your aquarium plants will start to show signs of Calcium deficiency. I must stress that Potassium is a very important element for plants.
Maintaining both Kh and GH at 4 is very ideal.
