    Hi everyone,
Hi have started keeping Apistogrammas at the beginning of the year and had a successful breed. Apistogramma are really a beauty and their colours are really awesome. So here are some of my Apistogrammas.

    Apistogramma Bitaeniata ''Paracuuba''

Apistogramma Bitaeniata ''Tefe Bauna'' (without any flare)

    Apistogramma Elizaberth 'Icana' (Without Flare)

Currently keeping these 3 Apistogramma. Will try to collect more of apistogramma as time goes by. So far been feeding these fishes with Frozen Brineshrimps, Frozen Bloodworms, ADA Gold, and lastly live brineshrimps.
Currently housing them in a 4ft community tank with 150 cardinals ,2 cories, Otos and some other faunas.

    C&C are Welcomed.
(pardon me for the lousy quality of these pictures even though they are taken from D3)

    Cheers,
    Kenneth.

Yeah, first 1 seems like a aggassizi to me too. Just look at the tail pattern.

All 3 pairs are of very nice finnage and color. Especially the bitaeniata, very long dorsal and ventral fin.

The first is an agassizii for sure, 100% not a bitaeniata.

    Re: Telecredibles Apistogramma Collection.

    Oh Dear!!!!
    Isnt that Apistogramma Bitaeniata ''Paracuuba''?
I started off keeping Apistogramma early this year and was convince that Biotope has lots of different varieties of Wild Apistogrammas. Decided to checked it out. When i saw this pair, i was attracted to it and quickly brought it. Did read the card located on-top of the tank and it says: ''Wild Apistogramma Bitaeniata 'Paracuuba' - $120''. I ask the uncle whether is this Paracuuba and the answer was yes. So, I brought home happily and did not realise it was acutally Agassazi. Due to the lack of knowledge of Apistogrammas. Sorry pardon me, By the way, can any bro here tell me the locality of this Apistogramma Agazzasi. thanks.

    Cheers,
    Kenneth.

hi it it likely that the guy from biotope thought you asked if it was from paracuba, it could be an agassizii from paracube? not a bitaenita.

ANY BRO HERE TO HELP ME!!!!
MY ELIZABERTH 'ICANA' AND BITAENIATA 'TEFE' BAUNA' KIA

    not sure why this happened.
I believe because the pair of agassizii killed my elizaberth and tefe. Saw them picking on the body
Sadly, both died in one day. the females are still ok...
Not sure why but i also believe im not a good owner of this apistogrammas.
I believe that I didnt put in more caves or hiding spots for this fishes.
Very embarrassed to have them killed.

Hopefully, this apistogrammas goes to heaven

    Re: Telecredibles Apistogramma Collection.

Sad to hear about your lost. You have been keeping them together for the past 5 months? During this period did you see the agassizzi keep attacking the other 2 vigorously?

Wonder whether the agassizzi after tasted victory for this round will be able to comm with other new apisto?

Suggest that you either seperately rear the different species or to provide alot of hiding caves, plant heavily etc to prevent direct eye contact.

both died in one day seems incredible. Even if they fight badly, doubt they will both die in a day? Your tank does not seem small too.

    Re: Telecredibles Apistogramma Collection.

    Hi bro Ian Lim,
Yeah i was keeping this few pair for nearly 3-4 months, on occasion, i do see my apistogramma agassizii chasing or sometimes attacking on my other apistogrammas. It was usually minor. After awhile, my the agassizii will stop it. Any futhurmore, my tank was filled mostly nanas, java ferns
So I doubt they have insufficent hiding spots as the agassizii usually cammps in their own caves.

    Hi Marle,
Yeah I was wondering too. Just came back from school which lasted only less than 2hours since im having papers. But when i return, the elizaberth is already seen at the bottom of the tank with the agassizii keep picking on it. Then afterwards, when it passed on, i picked up to examine, and found that the lower bound was filled with redish patch, and some of its fins are being bitten, damaged fins. Meanwhile, the Bitaeniata 'Tefe Bauna' was brought together with the agassizii only after a week of purchase of both of them. Bitaeniata was frequently chase around by the male agassazi when it enter the agassazi territory. And when it dies, its also the same manner. Some damage fins etc etc......
Anyway checked my PH, Temprature they are all alright. So im certain that my water conditions are alright since the rest of the 150 cardinals, plecos, cories are perfectly alright, im certain that its because of the agassazi

There must be a possibility of a breeding female of the Aggassizi killing up the others...this happen to me before

    Re: Telecredibles Apistogramma Collection.

Yeah I was wondering too. Because of the yellowish colour on the agassazi and it become really territorial. even the plecos, cardinals who enter or goes near the cave, are chased away firecely by the male. Thus i think this might be the cause.

that's probably the cause. apistos can get really territorial when spawning

Real sad to hear about the loss of your beautiful fishes. I also think that the prime suspect would be your agassizi. Cheer up and may you come back stronger!

that is why people never encourage keeping more than 1 pair of apisto in a single tank.. even though it might be a big tank..

    Yeah I will. Thanks anyway

    Hi Bro EvolutionZ,
Yeah more than 1 piece is not recommanded in a single tank. But, if you intend to keep more than 10 pieces, it will reduce the agression inside the tank. Meanwhile, also by keep different spieces of apistogramma will also reduce the agression. Will try to add in more. Upcoming this week.
