Dr M got KCL? last time I checked he didn't... and I believe I read somewhere that the level of iodine in most table salts are harmless to fish tanks.
Read the thread on obtaining potassium from LoSalt in NTUC and decided to get some. Unfortunately, Liberty didn't have that so I bought Morton's light salt instead. Now I'm wondering if it can be used. It's contents are salt, potassium chloride, calcium silicate, magnesium carbonate, dextrose and potassium iodide.
Also, can I still use Chuck's calculator to determine the dosage, seeing that this is not pure potassium chloride?
Thanks.

Do Dr Mallick's pdts come in the full range at Farmart? I stay in CCK so its more convenient to get it there than at his town office. Thanx.

no., there's iodine in ther,e which I believe will wreak havoc in your tank.
----------------
there is no IODINE
there is IODIDE
world of difference
no offence
imo the little bit of dextrose is nothing much compared to what your plants leak out
i'd go ahead and try a little
if the results are favourable go ahead and wack more
let us know how it goes
thanks for the input guys but I think the experiment stops here. I tried adding just a few grains inside my tank yesterday. I may be imagining things but my guppies got very edgy (almost like thet were showing signs of discomfort). They settled down after a while though.
Think I'll use the lo-salt on myself. At least I can complain if the lo-salt cause me distress!!
