Testing For NO2 and NO3

Do i really need to test for both NO2 and NO3 or i can just test for either for them in order to put my shrimps in?

Should test both bro especially when new tanks are concerned. Bet you know the nitrogen cycle. Over time when the tank matures, NO2 are not really necessary to test, only for NO3.
