I have mine with tetras and shrimps... nope the shrimps are pretty safe from being eaten up as the plants provide hiding space for them.

The fish probably will eat the shrimps baby.
When shrimp molts, that is their weakest period of their life.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
they will harass them when they take out the cloth (molting)
They will be safe if they are adult size. I'm guessing your talking about dwarf shrimp and yes at 1in you should be good. Yet when they molt they are very weak and that's when they most of the time get eaten, sometimes at adult stage. I wouldn't take the chance and buy a bunch of expensive shrimp like RCS or Yellows, ect. I would stick with getting a bunch of cheap ghost/glass shrimp. They might not take care of algae, but they will help in finishing food at the bottom of the tank.
I have shrimps and tetras and rummy nose in the same tank for more than a year now. From my experience,2 conditions you'll need to fulfill before putting them together.
1) Lots of hiding place for shrimps to hide (I use Java and Christmas moss)
2) Make sure those Tetras and rummy nose are not starved.
With this condition, from what I observe, they are not even interested chasing after the babies when they see one.
thnks so much guys for your comments! il post my tank soon. so far am making a nano tank for the shrimps im planning tog et tiger shrimps and cherrys
Actually, I have seen my brother-in-law's tank and it's filled with all kinds of predatory fishes; tetra, ram, corridoras, guppies, etc. But, he has quite alot of plants and moss where his shrimps survived and bred very well. Only thing is, most of the time the shrimp will be hiding and you'll not know that they are even there. Drop in an algae block and "hundreds" of them starts to appear; big and small ones.
So, I guess it may still be ok to have such fishes if you also provide sufficient hiding places for the shrimps
my tank only with shrimp, the shrimp out and apear most the day
