Post Reviews of Vivaria Project Course #01.

Hey ya guys, first and foremost, an extended big thanks to all who came over earlier today to participate in the workshop event. It was a great success and a lot of information and experiences exchanged at the event.

And really thanks guys for making the trip down from different venues and reaches of Singapore.

Now this thread will be opened for reviews upon which you might want to add suggestions and comments to further elevate the workshop layout and also the contents, info etc.

So guys, feel free to drop a line or two in any suggestions and i'm sure this will be the first of many workshops to come.

Those who had event pictures of today, feel free to post them up here.

Hi Phillip, it was excellent for me, the chocolate was very nice

and your scapes are very inspiring.
I've more confidence about how to make my own vivarium now. But I thought maybe you could include the laying of the substrate, the types of the land plants and their acclimatisation to emersed growth, and how you cordon off the water region from the land when the shape is more complicated, say a river plus a lake plus waterfall.

thanks for showing us your jungle and giving us a crash course on setting up a vivarium.

Here's some fotos....

In the beginning, there were ... a few people and a few plants...

Then came a few more people, and many more plants..

and more plants, some cans of coke, chocolate....

enjoying a break.. we are not energizer bunnies...

We had to drag this guy out of the planted tank room before we could start the lesson... ok.. just joking..

These memerized him...

Another guy we had to drag out..

Didn't stay till the very end..
A pity the fotos don't justify the beauty of the tanks..

sorry i could not be there due to my car accident.. damm driver hit me from behind while i was on my way there yesterday to your place... hmmm the next one then i will go... when the next one bro??? maybe meet ya again to go nursery again lor then drop by ur place

Agree with Crandf suggestions.
Somehow, most beginners like me have an impression that setting up a vivarium seems like an arduous task.
Hence a complete setup would have been ideal.

Nevertheless, it has also given me an insight into how vivarium works.

I am most impressed with Phillip's creativity, knowledge and natural scaping style.

No problem guys, Alex hope ur car doesn't sustain heavy damages and glad to know you're safe also.

As for reviews so far mentioned by ya guys, i'll include a complete step by step till the finishing touches on the next workshop. Also, i'll be conducting a background making "live" demonstration as well. Basic plants care and types of plants will also be included.

I'm doing a poll on another thread, so guys if you're keen, just have your names listed down there.

It's with regret that I could not make it yesterday. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it as much as the rest.

Great photos and report from Learner! Thanks for helping to document the session in our absence at such last minute notice.

This one is so cool! I can understand why I would be sitting there for a while. Any chance we can visit your place some other time?

Everytime i visit phillip, i'll sit there for MORE than a while.. that place is paradise i tell u, i can juz sit there in solitude for maybe an hour juz staring at those tanks..

Haha. so pai say, my picture's everywhere. But i guess you guys know why I had to be "dragged" out. His tanks are great. Not only that, it's low mantainence; no CO2 or base fert.

It would be nice that some of the stuff needed to setup a vivarium be on sale after the demo. Anyway it was nice workshop cannot wait to attend the next workshop.

hmm.. basically, it was an eye opener. But it would be good to know where and what type of plant, the materials etc to get for such setup.

Maybe a follow up to the farm ?

Great pics and it must have been a great outing for all... too bad I missed it as I was in SiChuan playing with the Pandas

I'll definitely try to make it for the next one, but here's some suggestions/ideas from me:

1. Plants suitable for vivariums
2. Steps/ways to cordoning off the water and land area
3. How to make a door/cover for the vivarium
4. If possible a trip to farms or even trekking

Oh btw Phillips, thanks for the tads, the big tad is cute, will definitely survive, but I can't say the same for the "sperm" looking smaller tads
