Perhaps you can try to freeze a few bottles of water and place it in the tank every 30mins or so to lower the temp.

Sigh I'm facing the same problem next week. They are going to shut down electricity for a day to upgrade some electrical stuff.
Yup my main concern would be the lack of oxygen when your filter is switched off for too long. Whether you'll have casualties really depends on your bioload. In a couple of my tanks I have hundreds of shrimps. The last time they shut down the electricity I lost all my very young shrimplets- while the bigger shrimps escaped unscathed.
This time around I'm seriously considering buying a couple of battery operated pumps
As for the ice cube method it's a good idea as well. Increase in temperature reduces the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water which could prove to be a double whammy for your shrimps.

Another way is to use a DC to AC converter to power your pump. Or get an uninterrupt power supply. But this will not be able support chiller.

Go buy a battery pump at Qian Hu which cost only $11,do you have a dc fan ?if no you can go to c328 to buy they are selling for $11.

My area is also have power supply cut off this week!!!.. haiz

no water movement for RCS is ok. not sure about CRS though.

get a battery operated air pump? ^^

oh thank , my shrimp all is fine after the electricity shut down this morning.
Just one of my guppy in fish tank not feeling well and like going to heaven.
):
Sorry to hear about your guppy but its great your shrimps are all fine. Interesting cos usually its the other way around
I just had my shut off today. Didn't have a chance to buy battery operated air-pumps but luckily its a rainy (cool) day so fingers crossed its not too bad.
The last time it happened I only realised the effects a couple of weeks later as I noticed that I had shrimps that were larger than 1.5cm and some about 0.5cm but none in between![]()
