as for escaping fauna, you can try attaching a "roof" with netting at the top of the tank.
will be like a net tank cover. can use white colour netting.

so "everyone" is swimming in the pond, you don't really get to see your fish/shrimps then from side view?
can only admire the green scape while watching tv.

I did try putting net along the outflow. It seems to prevent the fishes from escaping back to the pond. But the netting spoil the overall effect so removed it. Also, a bit cruel to confine these fish in this little tank up there while they are watching their 'friends' enjoying much freedom in the big pond
