Last week, while doing regular water change, I saw some trapping in a cave. I just got the L333 less than 6 months and presuming that it was just a false alarm. However, the pair were in the cave quite a few days , about 4-6 days.
Came weekend saw the female forcing the way out of the cave, the male keep pushing her back. This last for at least an hour. I did a water change then and soon after while I was pouring the water away, the female was broke free. I scanned the cave which left only the male inside, there seemed to be a false alarm. To my surprise...... I found one egg on the floor of the tank!!! This is the first time I saw a Pleco's egg. I scanned the cave again and found at least a whole stack of eggs..... I do not know how to put the single egg back to the cave so I placed it into a breeding tank and hope that this egg will be alright.

    Can't describe my happiness!!!

    More surprise comming up ....

Beside this cave there is another cave which another Pleco is staying put. Initial though that he is shy and always hiding in the cave. I scanned a light into the cave and to my surprise there are fries inside!!!! That means there is another spawning before this. OMG.... they are about 4-5 days old. This evening I have transferred the fries to another breeding tank. Hope thay can survive.

Wonder when can I feed them solid food? Any suggestion? This is my first time....

I think this should apply for most Hypancistrus species.
From laid day, about 5 days to hatch.
And for the yoke sack to be used up about 18 days from laid day.

    Don't worry!
You got some time to figure it out.
And two spawns in a tank! (BTW what tank size are they in and how many?)
That's great for any pleco I reckon.
    Congratulations dewd!!

They are in a 3ft tank and a total of 6 (3 male 3 female if I am not wrong). If I am not wrong, 1 of the pair is from you. The 3 ft tank is a Comms of many Ls (L333, L66, L134, L270, L97, L114, L25,L14,L91).... They are more than 20++ of occupants in the tank now. I am planning to move separate hypan Ls to 4 individual 2 ft tank in 2-3 months times. Currently, I have been changing water everyday about 10-15%. The most noticeable change I have recently is to up the PH from 5.0 to 6.5 using CC about 1-2 weeks ago. I am not sure is this the main trigger point or the recent thunderstorms.

Glade the fishies you got spawned!!

With all the other occupants it might be a good idea for you to set a species only tank for them.
After all they have started to breed so they should have their own tank!
Chances are its the rains we had recently.
Hypancistrus are quite tolerant of pH value (i.e. acidic or akaline).

    some updates.....

2 eggs slip through the father care and went out to play. Too bad they could not find the way home. Luckily was around to make sure they are safe.

I manage to take the action minutes before the female leave the cave.
    Hope you like it.

    YouTube - Pleco Trapping

It's a four minute video. This trapping if I am not wrong is L66.
I need some bro to help me confirm whether is it a L66.

Currently L270 are trapping in the cave below the cave in the video. Hopefully got good news soon.

    Cheers.
