Bro, I have put oto before instead of clearing the algae it clear the crs food, my crs only get chance to eat after those oto away he..he.. My thought if malaya shrimp good in clearing that would be most ideal they are same shrimp family....

So can i conclude Malaya shrimp much better candidate to clear hair algae?
Cheers
Edi

You can say so.I have a friend`s tank who was infested with hair algae,he left 20+ malayans inside and all algae was cleared up within a few weeks.![]()

bro, i tried with malayan shrimp before. not really effective in clearing algae though. neither is otto. but however, i do have a otto in my tank to clear the unfinished food. and snails as well. hope it helps.
Do not know if this is true but shrimps prefer shrimp food to algae. So by adding in malayan but keeping the orginal feeding regime will not force the malayan to clear away the algae. Just sharing of some of my experience, Can someone verify. Thanks.
