    Hi,
forgive my ignorance but what is the different between co2 bell and diffuser?
I am using a glass device with a ceramic plate on top (with really small holes) the co2 goes in and turns into really small bubbles. Is that a bell or diffuser. Also, the ceramic clogs up real fast. any suggestions?

    Regards

yes that is a diffusor ... when clogged up, take it out and washed with bleach till the clog disappears ... rinse with lots and lots of water and antichlroine before putting back into tank ... hope tis helps

so conclusion is? is diffuser better or reactor better.
I use the reactor and my ph indicator turns yellow!!
    means dropped from ph7.3 - 6.9!!

doesn't happen when i use diffuser.

    is that a right observation?

Robin, that means that co2 has been properly dissolved and in the water column. If u want lesser co2, just cut back. The diffuser did not helped the co2 2 be absorbed as well as the reactor so u have less co2 in the water column. You are just wasting the co2 away wif the diffuser. Just my 2 cents.

Efficiency wise, I think a reactor is better.

But people still use diffusor cos it takes up less space and easier to hide, especially in a smallish tank. I think a diffuser is more trouble than it's worth, especially with all the clogging every now and then. Some people call it a atomiser.

CO2 bell is this thingy you invert over the water and trap CO2, allowing it to SSSllllloooowwwly diffuse into the water.

Since we are on this...I do not have a reactor...but uses a diffuser..I modified the CO2 distribution slightly..I feed small bubbles direct into the filter inlet...In this way, I hope to be able to have co2 react/diffuse into the water.... Wonder anyone done anything like this?

    Hi wynx

If yu feed your co2 into the inlet of your cannister filter, in no time air bubbles will be trapped and your filter will not work.
