Lotus Leaves

Hi all,

It has been some time since I visited this Forum, have been very busy with project lately. Ok, there is something I really don't understand, those Tiger Lotus of mine used to grow tall and have big beautiful red dotted leaves, but somehow recently, the leaves started to slowly 'melt' away, and those new leaves seems smaller and shorter. I have trying to figure out why ?

1) Yamotoe Toe feasting on the leaves that causes the 'melt'
2) Generic change in the plant ??

Probably lack of juice. Put in a Jobe stick or other fert tab.

Lotuses, once established, usually develop a fat rhizome or storage tuber between the leaf base and roots. Check if your lotus has it or is it just leaves and roots (a sign that it doesn't have reserves). Also if roots are black, it means rot, and byebye lotus.

For me, I find lotuses take a regular uprooting well. I take the opportunity to check the root/tuber condition and trim the roots to stimulate new growth.

for me, i get lotuses with a fat rhizome
when they start to grow, the rhizome will get smaller and smaller
AFTER the plant is really established, the plant will grow a bigger one

try adding horti plant tabs, 8 to one lotus
that's what worked for me
