It's quite normal for a newly setup tank to be cloudy so I wouldn't deduct that the cloudiness was caused by the corkbark. Give it a few maore days to let the water settle down. Avoid water change for the moment and allow the water to settle.
Hi all,
I am using cork wood as background for my new tank. As i was too lazy, i didnt soak it. I simply attached it to my tank and added base fert and thoroughly rinsed gravel. Thereafter, water was added and thats where the cloudiness started coming in. Its been more than a week already but its still cloudy despite water changes. I have filled up the below fact sheet, pls take a look. Anyone can give tips? Thanks!

cloudy water - brownish colour. changed water on several occasions still the same.

Cork will not cause cloudiness.I've used it extensively for 15 years.

My problem is solved! I decided to take a chance, I performed a 100% water change and washed the filter media. Now everything is ok.
And I also discovered something. The cause of the cloudiness is due to the base fert. While i was topping up the water, i accidentally tripped on the hose and it stirred the base fert. The cloudiness is exactly the same as what i had previously. []
just uploaded some pics of my tank. the glosso were only planted last thurs so cant really see
