Friends, kindly advice and guide me...
Hi Friends,
I've decided to keep fronts again and this time I've planned to have the Setup as simple as possible, so that the Fronts can get a lot of room to swim. I've used 1" White sand as Substrate and just 2 Medium sized rocks. The Fronts just came in today and hence they're a bit afraid and nervous. The Filtration is 2 x Eheim 2217 and 1 x Eheim Internal Filter. Plan to do weekly 50% Water change.
Friend just wanted to request you to kindly have a look at the pics and please guide me on how can I improve the Aquascape or should I just leave it like this. Also is a Cave for the Alpha Male absolutely necessary ? Somebody told me that unless there is a cave in there, they will not breed and wont feel comfortable. It will be a great help if you can kindly have a look and please guide me further.
The Pics are as follows -
Kindly let me know your comments friends...
Thanks a lot for caring and having a look...
Lots of Regards

What's the size of your tank?
I guess you fishes are around 2" big? It will take a while before the reach breeding size.
I would rather focus on growing them out at this point of time, so a simple setup as what you have should be good.
You have altogther 3 filter systems in your setup, I am not sure how you are going to manage the current flow in your tank. Frontosa doesn't like strong current.
Looks simple and neat with lots of room for the frontosa to swim. If you do have a problem with the water flow, direct the end of the outlet where the water is coming to your filter at the corner of the side of the tank where the 2 glass faces meet at a right angle. That way, the water is deflected at a much slower flowrate in 2 directions. ( so slower flowrate when it comes into contact with the glass and bounces off divide by 2 = much slower flowrate )
Pm me if your unsure of how this works/ cant picture it. Ill mail you a drawn up sketch.
Hi Friends !
Kindly find the attached pics for my updated Frontosa Tank - Kindly advice if the aquascape looks good now and suitable for the Fronts. Kindly note that hidden behind each rockpile is a big Clay Pipe and a hole in both the pipes is aligned with the caves that the rocks form...
Kindly advice and guide me...
Thanks a lot !

You set up looks great, lots of space for the frontosas.
I would have used dark color substrate though.

Hi Eric,
Thanks a lot for the kind reply and for caring - yeah, I wish I could get a dark colored sand. I tried hard but I could'nt find it anywhere...
Anyways, thanks a lot !

i really love this fish..and just something interesting..actually spotted one living in a quarry in pulau ubin..wonder who put it there..
Nice fishes!
You may add boulder or rock in the back and side part of the tank to replicate Tanganyika lake...
add more white sand, if possible add dead crushed corals :-)
add tankmates like Synodontis multipunctatus (catfish)
or add Leleupi
Good like to your tank!
Now, I missed my Tanganyikan tank![]()
Nice tank......really wish for something like that...
would like to take this chance to ask all the experts here about tanganyika tank setup....Newbie to this!
As i used to keep fresh water aquaria in my 2ft cube tank, would it be possible for me to just put coral sand over my ADA amazonia soil ?
Can i continue to use my driftwood for decor ?
Can i keep fronts in this kind of tank and if can, how many ?
Thanks many many in advance!!
what PH level is suitable for frontosa?
Very cool setup.....a little more rockwork will be better

Definitely a very nice lighting that goes well with the set-up. Definitely a few stones and corals for the fish to play would be nice but don't know if that helps them to get into the mood of mating?
Are you using a blue and a white tube for lighting? I used to do that with a dark substrate and my Fronts' blue colours come out beautifully.
