WoW! So many tetras + other fish in ur tank? How big is it? It must look really busy & grand...
Well..yamatoes are more sensitive as compared to malayan or other species...Do u have any perticularly territorial fish in ur tank? Do u see them attacking the yamatoes when there are still conditioning?Or maybe the water conditions are not suitable for the yamatoes...
I suggest u do a water change before adding the yamatoes and make sure ur tank is not over crowded. Also u may wanna observe them more closely when u first add them...
fyi, the last time when my friend redid his tank...the next day all the yamatoes in his tank died, but the malayans were all alrite...[] sigh....
just sharing with u tho i didn't help much...sorry ah?regards,[] all da best!

thanks bros for the replies.
the rest of my yamatoes are doing fine now.
mine is a no substrate/gravel 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 ft tank with abt 15 potted plants and riccia
preparing to transfer to my 8 ft tank once my tank arrive...
jus added ghost shrimps...
in my exp. i think tt the reason some of my fishes /shrimps die is not becoz of my wateer parameters but maybe becoz they are too weak in the LFS or sick .....
however those tt survive are going strong and seems to co -exist well with the rest ....
ahaz
could be the condition of the shrimp
usually it's due to water conditions tho
it's much more common to find water conditions that kill yamato shrimp than yamato shrimp that cannot survive in good water
just live and let live
i find that there usually are 2~3 lost at a minimum
Ghost shrimps may whack smaller yamatos. FYI.

Really..?
Any detail......from that!![:0]

Here's my guess,
With the sudden surge of bioload, the filter bacterai was not able to cope and went into cycling again. Care to check you NH4/NO2 and NO3 levels?

i had some experience with yamato dying after i fed the fish with some live brine shrimp brought in some fish shop.
the next day 6 became orange and 3 jumped out of the tank.
did a half tank change of water immediately and death rate reduce to 2 orange shrimp and 2 jumping shrimp the next day. Dame! []
salt sensitive?
I've fed my newts with live brine shrimp before and the yamatos were ok. But then its at least 40 litres of water and I made sure I rinsed the BS in fresh water before releasing into the tank.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
i can answer that with a resounding no----------------

salt sensitive?
----------------
yamatos don't really give a **** about the salt level
they were happy as larks when my salt went up to 3 tbsp/5 gal when treating for chilodonella
Is it possible to keep Yamatos just bare bottom tanks?
