    Dear all,

I have a tank that is roughly 5 Gallon. I only have gravel small pebbles for my base. I dun seem to get plants that got roots to grow well....

There is Cherry shrimps, neons tetra and 2 corries. Any substrate to recommend?

    Regards
    Anthony

    Hi,

For planted tank, gravel does not provide fertiliser for your plants. What I recommend is that you can get ADA, Magix or GEX soils that have fertiliser in them for your plants to take in the nutrients.

With just gravel, maybe you may dose liquid fertiliser but I feel that it is not feasible for long term.

    How small is your pebble?

Did you add base fertilizer? if not, you can still grow plant that does not require substrate like moss, riccia, pillia, anubias, fern, etc
