I'm keen to embark on a high tech tank after having a low tech one for a year. What do we look out for in a CO2 tank? Is there any differences between the green or black tank? Will all solenoid fits 2L,3L or 5L?

    Sorry for the newbie questions.

    Re: CO2 tank

    Hi K3nlim.

The black and green are all the same to me but there is another one that some have problems after they refill the tank. Where possible, get the ones withe the 2 tone color, grey and black. NA are using these to change on a 1 on 1 basis. For solenoid, it should fit all capacity of tanks.

    Hope this helps!

    Re: CO2 tank

the regulators use standard cga320 fittings designed for co2 related equipment. so the fitting is independent of the cylinder capacity.

normally industrial refillers do check whether your cylinder has been certified as safe for use. otherwise you can check whether they offer the service of submitting your cylinder for a hydrostatic test. after a successful test, the test date is stamped on or near the neck of the cylinder.

Correct me if i'm wrong. CO2 is those editable CO2, not those industrial CO2.

    Re: CO2 tank

it is known as food grade co2.
industrial grade co2 has slightly lower purity level.
generally, food grade co2 is used in aquaria.

    Re: CO2 tank

May be side track abit..how do we know the CO2 refill that we got from LFS are of food grade co2? From business point of view (assuming lesser cost due to numbers of tanks),it makes sense to refill them in industrial area, in this case, provide a slightly lower purity level.

Are we paying for what we're getting? Just a thought...

    Re: CO2 tank

Hmmm, you could ask the lfs refilling your tank whether they are using food grade or industrial grade co2. I have no experience to test types of co2.
