you should do a search on hair algae.

Some common advise i see (not sure it works)

    1)use chemical
    2)introduce snail,shrimp,fish which eats them
3)remove the plant from tank( apply the chemical)
    4)CO2

i would put the plant aside if i already have a nice tank of plants. can't take the risk of a single plant killing my whole setup.

    Hi bros....
FYI....I have cut away those leaves with hair algae....
Of course the rest of the leaves still have but with minimum....

This I use malayan shrimp to clean up for me....and seems that is working....

Co2 will not kill algae not stop it from growing. Normally what you need to do is manually pick them up using tooth brush and Yamato will take care the rest. I'm assuming the hair algae yo talking about is green hair algae.

Alternatively you can dip it in a diluted bleach solution to get rid of the algae completely. Can't remember the exact ratio, but i think is 1 part bleach 20 part water & soak for 5 mins. Then soak it in anti-clorine solution before planting it into your tank.
