Hi its so easy , i used calcium carb and small shells as the substrate , this has a great buffering and seems to be ideal for coraline algae growth .. I use a large sump i got used for $50 dollars , i added $60 of matrix filter media and a cheap queen brand skimmer. I also use seachem supplements , the most expensive part but any time i chap out on supps it always ends poorly!!!! Thats it , and i live near the ocean so i only use dead top of the tide water changes , its not the money just love , most things can be made or there is cost free or next to no cost solution , would love to help if you have any questions ... ivs
nice tank! so whats the next setup going to be? the old one is a 3ft tank yeah?
btw, what is the greenish red coral in the middle of the first picture?
HI there this one is a 4 footer , the coral is a fungia or we call them plate coral here , its a particularly nice one , this one doesn't seem to open like other plate corals though but it seems very healthy tho.. I down sized to a 2.5 ft * 2.5 cube tank that is in a more atractive white complete cabinet .. It has t5's and 250 w halide sump setup w skimmer . Im looking at calcium reactors as i am hopeless at keeping up with dosing of the chems .. ON that note i only use seachem , every time i have tried to use cheaper products they have a negative effect. I will get some pics of the new set up . cheers ivs
