how long do i need to on my light?

my tank is about 40x20x23cm and has a lighting on it. The plants tt i have include cabomba, dwarf hairgrass and windelov ferns. Just wondering how many hours of lighting i need each day O.o

About 6 to 8 hours i guess.

A photoperiod of 8 hours a day would be great.

8 hours will be your best bet.

Try to break up the photoperiod into 2 slots of 4 hrs. 4hrs of light, 2 hrs of darkness and then another 4hrs of light.
