    Hi, I have recently acquired a 2 feet tank with dimensions (60 x 29.5x 33.5)cm which is around 53.37 litres / 14.12 gallons

Fauna in mind will be mainly Cherry Shrimps. Secondary will be Otocinclus, Nerite Snails and Brigitte Boraras.

Flora will be mostly Moss, Nana and other low tech. plants.

    I'll be reusing a PL 36W light.

I'm now considering my options of an adequate filter for my 2ft shrimp tank

    Questions:
    1) Will two Boyu EF-05 with their inlets placed at opposite ends of the back of the tank be sufficient?

    2) If i were to go for broke and get a proper canister, like a Eheim, Atman, Dolphin etc, what will be your reccomendations?

I hope to keep costs low as I still have to take into consideration of getting filter media, pipes etc

Hope to hear from yous guys

Hi. 2 Boyu EF-05 will probably cost as much as a brand new eden501 which has very good reviews. Just that the flow rate may be a bit slow for a 2Ft tank. But it has 2 years warranty. Since your main fauna is shrimps they may not need such a high flow rate.
    Cheers!

if not you can just buy 2nd hand atman or dolphin canister in the forum, its pretty cheap.

if you really want to cut cost to the minimum, you could buy 2 big sponge filters and place them at both corner. The filtering will be more than enough for your cherry rearing.

Yah.... Get a normal... Not so expensive canister with not so strong flow rate... I think the media inside is more efficient then then getting a expensive canister.
