i heard that if amanos turn blue, they are stressed, which is probably why they arent eating.
hey~
i've got 2 amanos and 1 woodshrimp in my tiny 2.5 gallon tank with 4 pink zebra fish, 2 oto and 1 betta.
4 zebras are new, and my shrimpies (not too sure abt amanos but wood shrimp hasnt been opening its fan for 2 days, it just sits there n clean its own legs or smth) arent really eating. and i'm worried!!
and recently my amano has a blue tint on their heads. wonder if thats normal? or are they sick?? =(
i heard that if amanos turn blue, they are stressed, which is probably why they arent eating.
the tank conditioner i have has dissolved blue chemicals in it, and i've been changing water very often recently. might the blue be from that??
i think that is unlikely. BTW, fanshrimps like to live in more "choppy" waters as the algae/detitrus will float about and they will open up their fans to collect the algae/detirtus.
i adjusted my filter to make quite a current in my tank and it used to love the current and would stand on the drift wood to feed. but they stopped eating after the new plants and fish were added. could it have been spooked or smth?
thats possible. some fishes like to 'nibble' at shrimps.
woodshrimp found dead today. sobs!
amanos don't seem to be eating still, but alive for now... argh
as long as your tank has a reasonable amount of algae, your amanos should be ok. how big is your tank? what do you have for your algae-eating crew?
heyy i've gotten new amanos and cherrys for over a week now. they seem ok. i used to feed them algae pallets and shrimp food.
i have a 2.5 gallon tank. took out the fishes other than the otos.
Most likely the new plants have pestcides on it. Did you quarantine the new plants before adding in?
