HI! I'm been thinking for some time if using arcylic sheet as tank cover will affect the lighting. Below is just an example where the tank is covered by a thin clear acrylic sheet. Will the lights bounce off the acrylic sheet or go through. Is the distance between them very important. My idea came from those plastic sheets that come with the lightsets to protect them from water splashing onto the hot tube.

    1. Keep temperature cool if using chiller.
    2. Prevent bugs dropping in there.
    3. Prevent mosquito from breeding.

    Hi StoneSpot
I dont think point number 3 will occur to you that mosquito will breed inside your tank when you have faunas and filter running right? I believe filter will cause flow and disturbance.. even if it does not, the faunas will eat the eggs of the mosquito so no worries on that. Oh yeah, the arcylic panel only keep temprature cool at minium rate.. there are other ways the water can lose its cold energy.. from the other side panels etc... but i do believe that a small percentage of light will be reflected.

    Cheers,
