    Hi all

    Please help?

I purchased a beautiful zebra Angel fish that has developed pop eye. we have purchased some Myxazin and have put in our tank for the last 4 days, unfortunately it does not seem to have made a difference. Can we try anything else? We have quite a few fish in the tank also, danios, platties, 2 more angel fish, plecks etc. He is such a beautiful fish and would love to cure him?

    Thanks.

    Re: Pop eye

    Hi hobbyfish,

Is the fish still eating? Pop eye is only but a symptom of an internal bacteria infection and not a disease itself. It usually appears after the disease is far more advanced and difficult to treat. Its recommended that you remove the infected fish and house it in a quarantine tank of its own.

2 diseases that would cause this would be Septicemia ( presence of bacteria in the blood ) and Tuberculosis ( another resultant of bacteria infection ) which is far more serious as this is contagious and trasmittable to humans. You'd need vetrinary attention for this

Then again, it can be also caused by hormonal imbalance in which there would be no cure.

Keeping the water clean and maintaining good water quality will help.. as im unaware of what meds you have in your area, you can try asking your LFS for meds that specialise in curing bacterial infections. Hope ive helped you in some way, do update on how your fish is doing. Good Luck!!
