Welcome back to the hobby!
I'd reckon a Fiveplan or Gex 2ft wold be a good start.
Nanos are nice but its not easy to keep the water parameters constant.
Larger volume of water means less fluctuation of water parameters.
Just a thought for you.![]()
Hi all,
I have been tankless for about 2 years now and recently getting back into fish keeping and want to try something different.
Currently experimenting with a nano planted tank to get reacquainted with the hobby - in hope of gaining confidence to progress to a larger tank (possibly 3 feet) in the new place I'm shifting to.
My last attempt at having aquatic plants was in 2001 - in an arowana tank, but it was a feeble attempt and due to a subsequent shift of location, the project was given up.
Hope to learn from all the experts here!
Cheers,
Alvin.

I finally uploaded an avatar and Cupid is dead!!!![]()
Thanks Celticfish for the warm welcome
The parameters for the nano tank are indeed challenging to control and difficult for a fuss-free setup.
Will be shifting in about 1-2 month's time and will plan as I go and I hope I'm able to gain the experience plus allocate the required funds in the following months to come!
My ideal tank equipment setup would be:
- 3 or 4 feet braceless tank with optiglass (or equivalent) and 18" height.
- Ceiling mounted 2x150W MH + T5 lighting
- Contemplating sump filtration with very low air disturbance and uncluttered look. This is so that I can have a minimalist look - CO2, drop checker, etc can be in the sump. Only intrusion in tank are the overflow pipes and outlet.
OR
External Canister Filter- Chiller
- Fauna to be decided later!
