    Re: diffcuilty breeding cacas

Was the pair of caca from a good and strong source? I don't see any problem with your setup, however i see there might be a problem in the fish itself. caca are easy to breed, 2 months can be 8 spawns.

Was it sold as a true pair(male and female) and not male and sneeker male. How big are they?

I do not see the problem of sneeker males overseas since mass-in-breeding is a no no for them. Selective breeding is ideal, which result in better colours etc etc.

    Cheers!

Yes a picture will be great, so we can actually try to see if it's a sneeker.

Its a male. No wonder you have difficulty breeding them.

    Re: diffcuilty breeding cacas

That is the incorrect way to sex them. Males can have black dorsal tip for the first two membrane. The long dorsal end, lyrate tail and long bluish colored ventral fins tell me its a male.

see here for more information about sexing.

No longer so popular as in the past, i guess

I don't see any red version of caca around biotope during last weekend. Y618 also no more apisto stock.

Normally they only sell in pairs... But you can always talk your way out in getting just a female but maybe pay a bit more..?
Caca pair costs around $30-$120 depends on the species... But those normal triple red ones $30? May find even better deals at forum's marketplace...
You can try asking genes whether he have somemore females a not?

    Re: Diffcuilty breeding Apistogramma cacatuoides

Last time you could order female cacatuoides at both Y618 That Aquarium and Y932 Go Nature. I'm not sure about now but if you pass by any of these you can give it a try.
