    Guys,

    Have anybody tried using mangrove bark before in your tank? Is it ok?

    I've found quite abit of it at my work site. May need washing but seems good enuf to put in the tank.

    Any problems forseen in using this method to do teracing or background?

    u need to cook the bark in water, for 3 hrs.. then let it stand for a day then u can used it inside ur tank.

    Why do I need to boil for 3hrs? How do you suggest to boil it if the strips are like 2ft long?

    one uncle told me abt that, cos u wouldn't noe what is still in the bark.. maybe some fungus or bacteria or something else ..i learn from one fish store uncle.

    abt the size maybe pour boilding water over it? he tell me that those drift wood b4 they come into the market for sale, they also boild it one..well nvm if u dun believe

    Hi sherchoo,
    I suggestion u can put the wood into a large container. Fill it up with boiling water, continue boiling it by using portable boiler(its looks like a coil with a red handle and comes in a few sizes) and boil it in the continer for as long as u want.

    Thanx for you idea.... but it quite difficult to get a container that big that withstand boiling temp.

    I know that Australia customs won't allow ppl to bring in any wooden items even those handycraft made of wood. Any aussie that can confirm this?

    I'm not an aussie, but I studied there for a while. Not 100% sure but I do recall sure a rule. They are concerned about pests or diseases being brought in and infecting their unique eco-system.
