I used to sleep with my hands over my head. But one night, when I was sleeping in the same manner, my hands and would say my whole body was partially immobolized as in I cant bring my hands down from my head in the middle of the night.

I have shared this account with my friends and they said it's nothing supernatural. They mention that it's a common thing. That because by doing so my blood circulation was disrupted and thus immobolizing my arms.

But then I continued, ok I agree with their scientific theory. It's not only my arms was failing. As I was frightened then, not only did I struggle but to no avail, I was screaming out but it was dead silent. Ok I'm a Christian, so I shouted out to God in my silent screaming voice and that very instance, I was freed.

A group of 9 friends went to a local 'family' style KTV (There's only 2 more popular ones in Singapore, so go figure).

They happily sang and at the end of the day when the bill came, they were charged for 10 pax instead of 9. They went to confront the manager, who insisted that they had 10 people in the room. But of course, this group of friends insisted that there were only 9 of them.

So, to resolve the problem, the manager said come and look at the cctv's video of the room. Instantly they were scared out of their wits and immediately paid and left.

In the corner of the room, just one person spaced from the group of them was a guy sitting there, wearing a cap, looking down.

Never fail to give me goosebumps whenever i thought of this story and we always joked about who's going to sit in the corner whenever we went KTV. ALways end up huddling together. haha

My story was way back when I was in Tekong.
My company was having a field camp at Lower Botak and I decided to make my way back to camp 1 to sleep once everyone had dozed off.
I remembered looking at my watch, coincidentally 2 minutes to midnight (fan of Iron Maiden ) before setting off.
As I reached Botak Top, I felt uneasy but decided to press on.
Just as I was about to make my way down, I heard a rustling sound.
I could see then that to my left, a line of trees were shaking as if a strong wind was blowing.
Strangely, "the wind" was blowing in a straight line without disturbing the neighbouring trees; and it is coming towards me!
As it passed me, it felt very chilling and then the trees on my right displayed the same thing.
I knew I was about to encounter something but decided to press on.

    Then it happened.
Following the track down, I had to pass a 30m stretch where the canopy was thick.
In total darkness, I could hear 3 ladies' voice calling out my name and laughing and giggling.
To turn back is considered suicidal as there was no way I could handle 3 ghosts at once; no matter how sweet their voices may sound .
I pressed on, reached the camp, took a shower and slept peacefully.
I have heard a lot about Tekong island before, during and after my army time. I was a SISPEC instructor in then Tekong. My whole two and the half years of army life was in Tekong. Walking alone in the dark forest, guard duty at the ammo dump which rumoured to be haunted was common and "luckily" I did not experience such supernatural thingy.

I think this is quite common and I experienced that myself too so don't scared the hell out of yourself.

    Re: Supernatural Stories

Okay, time to post another true story as told by my aunty, her experience.

Some of you who had the unfortunate experience where a family member passed on and conducted the funeral in taoist/buddhist tradition will know what I am writing about.

In that tradition, after X number of days (I think is 7), the deceased spirit will be accompany by hade's soldiers (cow's head and horse face) back to his home for a visit. The family would have prepared a feast for the deceased and the soldiers.
In cantonese, they call it 'whui wan'.

So, my uncle passed away, and it's time to 'whui wan'. My aunty, sons and daughters prepared a feast for their deceased dad, and retired for the night into one room. The dishes, plates, cups, chairs are arranged properly.

The next morning, when they came out of the room, the chairs position are moved. And it's not moved a bit, it's moved by a good distance!

I only had that experience in my dream once. Damn scary. I was sleeping with my chest on the mattress, so, my head was facing the side, the door.
I woke up, but couldn't move a muscle. Saw the door opened by itself, nothing there, but can really feel something was approaching. Tried to scream too (I'm a Christian too), calling out for God, but it was total silence screaming. Then all then sudden I woke up.

It happened years ago when there was still a GV cinema at Eastpoint Mall, Simei.

My buddies and I were watching a midnight movie at Eastpoint and the show ended around 3am. I live very near Eastpoint (in Tampines) and it's just a 10 minutes walk home. On our way we have to cross an overhead bridge over the PIE expressway to reach home. This particular bridge is not one of those with steps. It is made of multiple slopes that allow bicycles to be pushed up. It is winding and takes much longer to cross than a normal overhead bridge.
    hi windcharm,
never know your are staying in 114 i'm at 113, for your information the bridge that cuts across the PIE is actually a cemetery ( the entrance of the cemetery was call Jalan Tiga Ratus where the former Changkat Changi Sec School was)
if i'm not wrong blk 113 and 114 are also part of the cemetery. maybe you can ask confirm with your uncle if he is staying at where the Singapore Expo is.. i think he can tell you the location.
I too have this kind of feeling when i happen to walk pass there, seem that the bridge was so long that it take some time to walk across, worst if your approach the condo wall near the bridge..

The ammo dump! While I was at Camp 3 and during patrolling, whenever we reach that area, the dog or even cat will stop before the entrance of the ammo dump. The cat or dog sometimes follow us during patrolling but when we reach that area, they would stop and wait for us at the other end of our patrol area. Don't know why back then but I suspected..........

Hello Uncle Robin, I am not staying at 114. That is my good friend. No wondered it is kind of spooky at the area. Anyway, how do you find out that it was a cemetery area then?

    Re: Supernatural Stories

Talking about Tekong... anyone know about the crying, red-faced girl in one of the cabinets outside Echo company office in the old camp? (I think it was Echo.) My bunk buddy was prowling with two other guys. While one of them was marking the checkpoint outside the office, one of the other guys said he heard crying. The other two couldn't hear anything. The guy tracked it down to a cabinet outside the office. He pried it open a little and peeked in. He said there's a little trapped inside, crying and she had a red faced. Straight away, the other two dragged him away, but he kept insisting on helping the girl. When they got him some distance away, it finally dawned upon him it was supernatural, and the 3 of them ran back to the guard room.

On a different occasion, again my bunk buddy. He was on attend B and excused from route march, so he was left alone at the company line and assigned to help the COS. He was to wait in our platoon bunk and the COS would shout for him if needed. When the COS called him, as he was walking towards the bunk exit, the double doors swung open evenly and slowly as if some one was opening them. He was positive that it wasn't the wind. He quickly ran to the company office and stayed there the whole day until the platoon returned later that evening.

After he told the story to the section commanders, the very next day they bought a SAF crest and hung it over the door. Apparently, all bunks were suppose to have one, but ours were removed when they had the bunks painted just before our batch arrived. They forgot to put the crest back after the paint dried.

    In Tekong:

My company medic got possessed once.
We were having a whole day ATP training at 300m range and some came back to help collect dinner, around 6:45PM.
My medic tagged along to take a shower to refresh himself.
As always, the tonner would dropped them off at the canteen before proceeding to the cookhouse.
Coincidentally, only my medic got down this time while the rest proceeded to the cookhouse.
After collecting dinner, they went to look for him and found him walking aimlessly at the SOC ground.
He was not responding to their calls so they grabbed his shoulder and spun him around.
His eyes were red and he spoke to them menacingly in a low woman's voice, which neither of them could make out (in Malay).
Luckily, one of them had enough cow sense to fetch the senior medic for help.
I heard the exorcist lasted for 30 minutes.
After a few days, when my medic regained his courage, he told us what had happened.
He was taking the stairs, passing the canteen and the armourer when he saw someone squatting behind the medical center.
As you know the areas was quite dark after sunset.
He called to it, thinking it was a recruit given sick bay but sneaked out to smoke.
When it straighten up its body, the last thing he remembered was seeing a headless figure.
After that, I made it a point to always look behind the medical center if passing that way.

Ah ... the Camp 3 ammo dump. Did my patrol on guard duty with a buddy during my BMT in 1986. Every time we passed under one of the light post, that light will go out. Happened to us every round when we walked under it. Really spooked my buddy because of the things we'd heard about the ammo dump. But me being a skeptic at that time, I dismissed it as some electrical problem most likely.

Another inexplicable situation in Tekong during my time there was that somehow, there were no night trainings scheduled on Thursday nights. There were some stories going around concerning this, most of it propagated by instructors, but I don't know how much of it was real. However, I did observe that somehow on these Thursday nights, the island's wild dogs would gather and sometimes howl in the parade square. The howls were rather spooky to hear that's for sure.

Years later, my reservist unit dug-in in Sungei Gedong (near where the Japanese landed in WWII) during one of our exercise. During the night, I got up and went to pee, said the usual prayers (better be safe than sorry) and halfway through, I sensed some people watching me. I thought the men were up to some mischief because I had found some of them spooked and huddling together earlier on as they said they could smell the scent of certain flowers, which was supposed to mean that a 'pontianak' was lurking nearby. Also, there was a medium (tangkee) amongst one of them, who was held by them to be knowledgeable in such matters. Anyway, I decided to check out who were spying on me while I was peeing. I approached the dense foliage and saw three 'faces' staring at me. On closer inspection, I realised they were actually 3 large CB leaves that were gently rustling, reflecting some of the moonlight. In the dark they really appeared like faces staring at you.

Now, this is not to say that supernatural things do not exist. As I get older, I have come to adopt a more open mind to all things in Life. The closest I ever got to seeing a ghost was an incident during my teenage years. It still puzzles me to this day.

I was 14, and together with 4 other adventurous and curious friends, we went to check out the 'happening' at Clifford Pier (aka Ang Teng Beh Tao). During that time, there were many Thai prostitutes soliciting there and it was a buzzling place after dark. On our way home, we used the underpass tunnel near the Anderson Bridge. It was way past midnight and the underpass was deserted. While we were in the underpass, there was a person (I could only presume it was a lady) in white ragged dress/sheets cuddled up and sitting on the floor, face buried between her knees (luckily for that we did not get to see the face) with very grey and long hair, almost white, covering her face, hands and knees. Naturally, without speaking a word between us, but in unison, we just took flight and ran for what seemed a long long time. Up till today, I do not know if that 'person' was simply a destitute, someone out to play a prank, or something supernatural.

While, that's about all of my close encounters to share.

    Story # 6: Changi Beach

    Source: Hungzai.com

This is a real life incident that happened to my close friends who are Christians. They are the least superstitious so when they related the encounter to me. I knew they are not pulling my legs. My friend, an avid angler, would often go around the beaches to recce for good fishing spots whenever he has time. So, there was this one afternoon he happened to pass by Changi beach (the stretch along the air cargo complex) and decided to go take a look.
It was low tide and part of the sea bed is visible. As he walked along the beach, he spotted 2 flower pots lying on the sea bed. He decided to take! a closer look and on examination, found those pots were in perfect condition and of very nice design too. As his mother-in-law loves gardening, he decided to take the pots home and give it to her. Those pots were very nice and she would definitely like it, he thought. So, carrying a pot each in his hand, he walked toward the public toilet planning to wash it clean before heading back to his car. The uncle manning the public toilet saw him approaching with those pots and promptly ask him what is he doing with those pots. “Young man, do you know what is that you are carrying?”, the old man asked. “These are nice flower pots I found at the beach. I want to wash it and bring it home”, my friend replied.! “P ut it back where it belongs! These are urns people use in cremation!”, the old man shouted.

My friend was both stunned and apologetic. He quickly head back towards the beach to put those 2 pots where it belongs. In the midst putting back those pots, he accidentally drop one of them and it broke into several pieces. Feeling a bit uneasy, he quickly put the broken pieces together with the unbroken one back into the sea and left that place. Now, he did not relate this incident to anyone, not even his wife. A few days passed and he completely forget about this whole incident. About 1 week later, my friend had a argument with his wife (you know, typical husband and wife tiff) and so his wife decided to sleep on the sofa in the l! ivi ng room (Hey! I thought it should be the other way round!). Anyway, right in the middle of the nite at about 3 am, she went running back into the bedroom and hug my friend closely. Huh, she must have forgiven me, my friend thought. But why is she shivering?

My friend did not ask as he was half asleep. Next day, she related what happened. She was suddenly awoken in her sleep and when she open her eyes while still lying on the sofa, she saw a long hair woman in white gown walking towards their bedroom. Being a Christian, she instinctively prayed aloud and shouted at that “woman” to leave the house. That “thing” responded by turning around, walked towards her and left through the living room windows. My friend”s wife was scared shitless. She fell ill for several weeks and their church mates even held a prayer session in their house. Now, even at the point, nobody knew about the urn incident at the beach, not until my friend”s mother-in-law went to a chinese temple to seek help from a medium to help her daughter recover from a prolonged illness.

The whole episode of the lady in white gown was related to the medium. The answer that the medium gave shocked the hell out of my friend! The medium said that her husband (ie my friend) had brought home the female ghost. This lady apparently had committed suicide together with her lover and somehow my friend “pick”! he r up by accident. At this point, my friend related the incident at the beach to everyone and the medium said if he had brought those pots into his car, he would have met a serious accident and would not have survived. He should thank his “benefactor”, the toilet attendent, who warned him about the urns. The urn that he broke holds the ashes of the lady which explains why “she” follow him back since her “house” is broken. My friend”s wife recover after drinking some water with burned talisman from the medium (though a Christian, she drank it because her mother was very adamant and worried for her). My friend got a good scolding from his mother-in-law and was warned not to take “rubbish” home in the fu! tur e. So people, please be warned that it is not wise to bring home things discarded by others especially stuff like umbrellas, mirrors, old furnitures, pots, clothes, toys, etc. “cos you never know you might bring home some unwanted “guest” too!!!

    Re: Supernatural Stories

Since you talking about medium, I got a story to relate to it.

Happened to my elder brother when he was in secondary school, together with his group of fellow rovers, they went to Mt. Ophir for a hikking trip, mid way to the summit, one of his friends tripped and fall over an exposed tree root, no one gave a second thought to the incident and be went about their journey.

Not long through the hike, the guy who tripped over the tree, who started to have extreme stomach pain and $hit in his pants... according to my brother, he was one of those who fell ill at that time and there were only a couple of his friend that was lucky. During the whole drama, they were so afraid, some of them started to pray (the group made up of multi racial friends), all praying in their own religion.

Scared and struck in the middle of the mountain, with no form of communication to contact anyone for help, one of the 2 guys whom was fine had to rush down for help.
The whole fresco ended with some rangers coming to their aid, the group was brought down safety but was still ill (sorry I forgotten about how they got back to SG).

When my brother came back home, he was ill for almost 2 weeks, until my granny decided to seek the advice of a book, sorry I only know it as "Dong shu", the book was from an old man living a few houses from my granny's and he was selling those taoist stuff. According to my granny, she went to the guy to seek some advice who referred to the book, after flipping the book, he gave some instruction to my granny. My granny came home, without saying anything she started to burn some offerings and then burn a tailsman and ordered my brother to drink. He got well the very next day.

Some might call it concidence or maybe my brother was about to recover from his illness after 2 weeks. But the other thing that happened, gave me another insight to the entire episode. My granny related to us, what the guy from the shop told her, he told my granny what actually happened and where it all began. He said that one of my brother's friend accidentally kicked a wandering spirit who was lying on the tree root who got angry and decided to punish the whole group of them. His instruction for my granny was to burn the offering at the direction from Mt. Ophir. My brother told me he didn't tell my granny where he went to nor what had happened, but the guy knew all that information. Perhaps unknowingly he did tell her but was too sick to remember the details.

Part 2 is an offset of the incident above, a week after my brother got well, my granny made an arrange to see a medium. This is really interesting, i was there with my granny and my brother. The guy aka medium was in a trance and speaking in a language unknown to both of us. As we were looking on, my brother whisper to me about how ridiculous the whole session was. The next thing we knew, the medium turned around and told his assistant something who in turn told my brother in Hokkien "You may found it stupid and you don't believe in such ritual but I cannot force you", we were totally surprised and shock, how was it impossible he could have heard his brother's whisper?

Anyhow, the memory of that incident has been fresh in my mind ever since. But, do you believe it?

Now.. this shrine is definitely still there, it is in Toa Payoh Central. It's quite easy to recognise.. this shrine (now a mini temple) is out of no where in the middle of the 2 rows of low-rise shop houses. You cant miss this temple.. it is as though it is build within a tree, and the tree is those type with lots of long vines coming down and many of these vine reaches the ground and become one of the support trunks. I was born and lived in TP until I was 14. When I was very little my dad told me about the authority trying to rid the shrine/temple but they couldnt do it, and decided to leave it alone. If I'm not wrong, all these attempts happened in the early 70s when I was just a few years old.

Then they tried using chainsaw to cut down but chainsaw also malfunction.
So then the HDB had to make changes to build flats around that tree or left that tree untouched. Then people start worshipping that tree and build shrine for it.

Im not sure if this shrine is still around.

There was an abandon malay school near the jetty in Tekong. Story goes that during our ATTEC 2 final mission, one of our guys driving a rover got problems and they stopped right outside the entrance, the driver went out to check on the engine the vehicle commander stayed in the rover. After a couple of mins, a guard on duty call out to them near to the jetty and shouted for them to run... at the end, the guard told the both of them, there was a pontianak on the roof of the rover moving toward the vehicle commander

my only experience was not in tekong and I wouldn't call it a ghostly one. Maybe too tired, happened at the foot of temple hill, we were supposed to dig in and defend the hill and I was a 2IC runner/signaller, our HQ was the temple and we had put up wooden planks on the side of those concrete seats at the temple to cover up. one night after taking a walk with my 2IC, my OC, runner and signaller took the next shift to prowl around and I was getting ready to sleep, at the mid of sleeping, I heard some foot steps and voices, very sure it was that of the runner and signaller. So I decided to sprung them a surprise but instead I realised there wasn't anyone to scare but myself.. I slowly lower myself and pretend to go back to sleep
    Hi Simon

I just saw your thread on charlie camp 1 and this brought back my memories of my BMT days. I was in charlie platoon 10 from Mar 93 to July 93 (goosh that was 16 yrs ago), my bunk was opposite the charlie 9 '3 doors' bunk. The '3 doors' bunk was converted into a storeroom and AV/lecture room with black colored wallpaper pasted all over. I remembered during one of the lectures, while waiting for the instructor to arrive, one of my buddies got itchy fingers and started to peel the black wallpaper. The section he peeld off happened to be the '3rd door' and we were shocked to use some tailmans cover the door!

Also, for charlie 10, section 4 rested in the bunk that was divided into two, whether it is for store or sharing with delta company, i can't recall now..but, i can affirm about the incident of japanese troops marching in the mid-air in the middle of the night because one of my platoon mate, who is very honest and obedient guy (quite unlikely he will fake or tell lies), woke up in the middle of the night by a sound of his helmet and SBO dropping on the floor. He then claimed he saw japanese troops with an officer on a horse marching past him in mid-air. He was so afraid that he shut his eyes and tried to fake sleep. The next morning, he reported sick during roll-call and all of us could see his whole face was very pale due to the fright he experienced! Now, i think of it, it still give me goosepimple!
