Flies and Mosquitoes???~!!!
Is your surface stagnant and is your tank outdoors? lol

Started my 3rd attempt on rearing CRS about 1 month back.
1st 2 attempts failed miserably. Because I have no Chiller.
This time round, had a chiller and my babies seems so much happier.
Anyway, yesterday spotted 3 berried crs!
Hope they hatch soon.
Sorry bros, no picture yet. Will use my brother's phone to snap clearer pictures.
Anyway, how do i prevent flies from drowning and mosquitoes from breeding in my tank?
If I were to set up another tank, say 2ft, can i hook up the two tanks together into 1 set of canister filter and chiller? Assuming that my filter and chiller have a capacity of at least 4ft.
Thanks for viewing,
Fabian

well, congrate
Benibachi Pure Red Line CRS!!

most likely if you are using fan crs should be able to survive.i am using fans for my crs tank and my crs are alright .

ya I used fan for my first two attempts. Guess the change in temperature is too high. Best investment so far is my chiller. haha
Every night i will do a visual check and scoop out any dead flies or larvae. Sheesh. Hope non of the bros here are from NEA.
Is it advisable to hook up two tanks to one set of filter and chiller?
Fabian
mine also same, use fan so no flys. But if l were to use chiller better for crs however if still install fan water will disapper again.
how to solve this?
1.use rainbar?
2.?

Is rain bar those "tube" with holes that comes with canister filter? For water outlet?
If yes. I have installed those. They do agitate the water surface. However, Due to a large surface area, 2ft x 1ft, I have "Dead Zones". Guess those blood-sucking buggers laid there.
Currently I am planning for a 2nd tank setup.
Fingers itchy.
Will post pics of my set up soon.
Thanks.
Fabian

The easiest way to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in your tank aside from a fan or other surface agitation method would be to lay fine mesh over your tank, or you can build a wooden frame with mesh on it to lay on the tank.
It will still allow gas exchange and light to pass through, but no mosquitoes or dragonflies will be able to invade your tank.

Hi bros,
Here are some of the pictures i took last night.
Sorry. not clear at all.
Handphone camera not good enough.
Enjoy my lousy pics![]()

haha.. sorry for the late reply...
My chiller is a 2nd hand Hailea chiller.. Model no. can't remember :P
So far got 2 casualties.. So Sad....
My new project is coming up.....
Any water change before you discovered the casualties? I noticed there is always borne to have some casualties after I change my water. I used to change about 15% during each water change every week. This week, I tried to change as little or merely top up. So far, no casualty. Touch wood.
