    Bernard,
Thanks for the nice comment. The substrate I use is ordinary fine grain stones (or should call sands?).

I use root tablet and liquid fertilizer to feed the plants.

Ya, you are right. The bala now is young and small. Will send it to my colleague's big tank.

Re: My 2FT low Tech Tank

    some updates

as said, the tiger lotus grows really fast. The first leaf grew to the surface of the water in last weekend.

To give it enough space to grow, I remove some plants on its right. I added a gray/white stone to add more color.

some big fishes have also been removed incluing the bala shark, pleco and two rosy bard.

added 6 small cherry barb and one dwaft neon rainbow.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks for the comments.

And agree, now the lotus leaves on the surface start to block light for other plants. Have to trim some,

    Hi bro....
    Full agree....
You may consider removing the surface leaves because it will start competing with the submerse leaves....

And the chances is the surface leave will win....

Thanks, bro. So you mean if I cut all surface leaves, the submerse leaves will grow better?

Now I see all new leaves coming out are going to reach the surface of the water. How can make new leaves submerse?
