first thing, a lot of left over food means u are overfeeding. Try to experiment the best amount to feed each time and don't just throw the whole chunk into the water. Its better to underfeed a little then to overdo and get algae at the end of the day.

second, are you fishes interested in the food u give them, maybe you can try some other stuff. Varieties in the diet is good for your fish.

A Canister filter will not have such powerful suction to pick up a bloodworm at the other corner of the tank.

i don't suggest cories, it will probably make the situation worse and your riccia might be flying. Try other ways before finding yourself putting more food in to feed the cories.

Try feeding tetrabits which will float for sometime before sinking very slowly. Tetras love them.

I have this problem before too, but ever since i introduced bleeding heart, all has turned proactive during feeding. Stand too close to the tank and i will be drenched! (joking) Rams work as well.

your canister filter should be turned on 24 hours.

all filter must run 24 hours. otherwise any cycling / bio bacteria will die.

Yah... maybe you are overfeeding. My cardinal & neon tetras well rush toward the food at feeding time... yours may not be hungry.

... or your food not as tasty.

    BTW, what tetras you have?

yah loh. My tetras are like little piranahs when comes to feeding... very hard to imagine you have leftovers... It is either you are overfeeding, bad food, or unhealthy fish. Sometimes new fish takes a while to adjust to the environment...

Shrimp is a very good scavanger.

IMHO, 1 cube of blood worms per day is too much. I used to do that.
Then lots of algae problem. Now feed every 2 to 3 days interval (dry food).

It's not the leftover food but the fish waste.

Processed/manufactured food like flakes are high in nutrients and low in non-nutrients, hence more of it get digested and less becomes fish poo.

Unprocessed/raw food like bloodworms have higher percentage of undigestable components and more of it comes out as fish poo.

May be too much fertiliser depending on your fish load... you'll have to balance your other nutrients to match.

IMHO if your fish can't finish the food, I think you are feeding too much. My BW never got the chance to reach the bottom of the tank.

not very sure about this, but i think frozen brineshrimp and daphnia is cleaner then frozen bloodworm. Fish got sick easier when i feed FBW.
