As ever with Stiphodon it is very diffcult to correctly id them, yours is possibly S. rutilaureus.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, but at the net surf, I've found S. rutilaureus. http://db.angfa.org.au/show_image.php?dir=fishℑ=stiphodon_rutilaureus.jpg
Mine doesn't have the blue/black dorsal fin, but it looks like this one
http://users.edpnet.be/geekspace/IRG...laureus_01.jpg, although the owner classified it like beeing S. rutilaureus.

Joe, I don't believe the first pic is S. rutilaureus but the second I what I believe is it. The colours can change quite a bit as they grow I have a pair that I've kept for over a year the male started out looking like yours, but now looks much darker this photo is about 6 months old but he looks similar now

Hi Afroturf,
Thanks for your reply. Truly there is more info in this species like being S. rutilaureus that s. elegans.
Got another pic to share.
Do you mind to share more info about it? Breeding will be complicated, because fry need brackish conditions, in the first weeks, isn't it?
Regards,
Joe Faria
Breeding is possible but difficult I've not managed it yet. There a few people who have managed to get them to spawn. But I don't think anyone has yet managed to raise any sucessfully due to their need to be moved to brackish/marine conditions and also their size and difficulty with feeding.
Other than that they are easy to keep making no major demands, and they're a joy to watch.

Hi Steven,
Do you know anywhere in the Uk i can get hold of Stiphodon sp. Gobies and some of the new chinese species mentioned in this month'sPFK. Also am looking to set up a biotope if i can get hold of any of these species. Any advice re. tankmates/set up?
Thanks,
