Hi all, I want to ask if anyone tries to put liquid fertilizer in their high grade CRS tank? I read in few forums that high grade CRS is more sensitive than the normal ones. Currently I have tank with A and S grade CRS with liquid fertilizer dosing and they seem normal to me. I want to try put high grade CRS but affraid they will die if i put liquid fertilizer.

Re: Is liquid fertilizer safe with high grade crs?

recommend no liquid fertilisers for any shrimp tanks. Liquid fertilisers have chemicals which are harmful to shrimps.

1 of the LFS in my area recommend me a liquid fertiliser and the owner says its ok not harmful to shrimps and he is using to dose into his crs and shrimp tank, but i decided not to buy it. 2 month later i visit his shop again and his whole crs tank gone overnight. Ask him what happens he cant explain to me too as all his equipments are working. So i presume is the liquid fertilisers and his tank had been around for more than 6 months before he start dosing.

So i guess liquid fertilisers don't kill your shrimps instantly but maybe gradually.

I tried dosing with my Cherries. Although none of them died I observed that they look agitated. I've not tried dosing any of my shrimp tanks again.

If you run a low tech tank with mostly mosses my experience is added fertiliser is not neccessary

The problem is beside moss, I got downoi and HC in my crs tank with ada amazonia soil. Some told me downoi and HC needs to be dosed with liquid fertilizer to make them healthy.

hard to advise you without knowing more about your setup like lights and co2 injection. HC is not exactly a plant that will tolerate skint fert dosing.
i suggest that if you want to try demanding plants, avoid having CRS in the tank.

Re: Is liquid fertilizer safe with high grade crs?

if can both of them healthy But I guess its not possible. My tank is Aquastar 60. I dont use co2 and for lighting, if I'm not mistaken is 15 watt. Use ada amazonia ii as substrate. temp 24 with chiller.
I dont expect downoi and HC to grow rapidly. As long as they dont die on me, I'm quite happy. Is that possible without liquid fertilizer?
