I did not rear any fish and although i am using hang on filter, i had it covered it with micro sponge.
Mine is a 1ft cube tank and every morning, there would be around 2-3 dead shrimp so i highly suspect my shrimplets may also be dead.
I had quite a few mosses so presume finding food for the shrimplets is not a problem to them right?
I had an aquarium fan which keeps the temperature around 26-27 degree and i am rearing CRS with Cherries/Sakura. Is the Cherries that are pregnant.
My ph is around 6-6.5 as i am using gex soil. I did add in nutrifying bateria to help bring down the ammonia and nitrate and i do wc once a week.
Can it be due to copper? I do not have any test for the copper and i can't really buy all the test kit to test out so need your advice in what could be the likely cause. I always see shrimplets and they will all disappear the next day.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

how long has the tank been running? bottled bacteria do not reduce ammonia and nitrates. it contains bacteria spores that seeds the tank. converts ammonia to nitrites and then nitrates when the cycle completes.

use an air pump to increase aeration and see whether the situation improves.

Hi bro Vernonlcm , Mind if i ask you if your hang on filter's inlet is covered as in are the hole big enough to suck the shrimplets in ? Maybe thats the problem you cant find the shrimplets ? Maybe you might want to change to a sponge filter instead ...

Just supecting that it might not be o complicating after all ... Hope it helps ... Sorry if it doesn't ...

maybe there is not enough food for the shrimplets as they do not eat algae on the moss.maybe you can try using mosura bio plus which provide food for shrimplets and it helps to clean the water as well.

I knew about the hang on filter inlet issue that is why i got a micro sponge to block the shrimplets for being suck in so quite sure this would not be an issue. Thanks for your advice.

I do drop quite a few of the sinking pellets twice daily for the shrimps but not sure if is way too big for the shrimplets to consume. Maybe will take note on using mosura bio plus in this case but hope is not very ex.
    Thanks for your advice.

Will try out air pump to increase the aeration and monitor closely. Thanks for your advice.

Re: Help, my shrimplets always disappear the next morning

I suspect is planeria... I caught one in my tank yesterday. I think they are responsible for my shrimplets and some shrimps death. It may be due to my overfeeding as i normally feed them twice a day. Not sure would there be many more of planeria in my tank? No idea how planeria started off into my tank as i just started my tank and the gex green soil 2 weeks ago. Can anyone help?

    Planaria

    Hi,

planaria often come with plants or bloodworms or other living food. And yes: In my experince they can harm shrimp and shrimplets. So you should get rid of them! In Germany, there are two pharmaceuticals breeder usually use: Flubenol and Panacur. These drugs are orginally made for cats and dogs when they have worms inside.

Maybe the planaria isn't the only responsibility for shrimplets disappering. Your tank hasn't cycled for a long time and you report that older shrimp also die. Have you already have a look for nitrite? A peak of nitrite appears between the 2nd and the 5th week after set up. Filter starter bacterias can quicken the set up but not totally avoid nitrite.

Re: Help, my shrimplets always disappear the next morning

Planaria is everywhere, don't be surprised as i also saw planaria when i was starting up my "empty" tank some months back. The tank then only had soil and water and perhaps a few strands of plants (no fish, no shrimp, no food) and there was planaria crawling on the tank wall. ha!

Think your tank is not fully cycled yet, as imke said. If adult shrimps are also dying, then think unlikely the babies can survive. do some water change?

Re: Help, my shrimplets always disappear the next morning

I done only PH test which fall in the range of 6 to 6.5. I add in quite a few frogbits and mosses hoping to absorb a bit of the nitrate and i also add in nutrifying bateria and PSB hoping to absorb the ammonia and nitrate as well. I do have bio rings in my hang on filter for the bateria's home.
Btw what is the difference between nitrate and nitrite?
Now i have wash out my soil by putting vinegar to kill the planeria/slug and already rinse it with tap water a few times. Does it mean that i have to recycle my tank for 1 month then able to put in the shrimp again? I kept more than half on the existing water plus some aged water into the tank and start cycling this morning and the water is very cloudy at this moment due to the water mixed with the soil.
I already put my plants (frogbits and mosses) in already while recycling my tank. Will the cloudy water affect my plants???
Pardon me for all the noob questions as i started not long on this interest.

Fish waste --> ammonia --> nitrite --> nitrate, which plants use to grow.
certain types of bacteria can break down ammonia into a less toxic substance called nitrite (that's with an 'i' - note the spelling, it's important) aka NO2-. nitrite is less toxic than ammonia, but is still toxic and can still kill fish. Thankfully, another sort of bacteria starts to grow in your filter and gravel (albeit a little more slowly than the "ammonia eating" bacteria). This beneficial bacteria breaks down nitrite (NO2-) and turns it into nitrate (NO3+) - note the 'a'. Nitrate is only harmful in quite high levels, which can be controlled by regular partial water changes, and is useful to aquatic plants as a fertiliser. Unlike fish, many invertebrates are not tolerable to high nitrate concentrations. As a result, it is extremely important to make sure that nitrate levels do not reach high levels. Therefore proper cycle of your tank is highly important to bulid up the Beneficial bacteria!I am also noobie in rearing invertebrates but i done tons of research. This is my 1cent explanations correct me if it is wrong pls correct me.

i think putting in the frogbits will lower the nitrate...
pardon me if i am wrong

Now after i revamp my soil, the adult shrimp is doing very fine with no causualty now but the baby shrimp still MIA leh. (MIA = Missing In Action)
I just bought i new pack of shrimps and inside have many babies already, now don't dare to put in my tank as afraid the shrimplets may MIA again.
Really don't understand what is the problem now...
