what kind of plants are you keeping ? and what is the tank size ?
I think you need at least some FL tubes for the plants to grow better.

I have java moss and some other "minimal lighting" plants in 2ft n 1 ft tanks. they are close to the window. wonder if its sufficient or need additional lighting.
i m doing low tech. potting soil with gravel on top. no co2 or anything. about 7 small fish in the 1 foot with java moss tied on wood.
Actually its difficult to control placing your tank near the window.
Even with indirect sunlight, you might end up needing a UV sterilizer.
Algae problem, i mean.
I used to place my tank near the window too, indirect sunlight, and my plants end up dying (incorrect choice of plants, but i have learnt ). you sound like u have the right plants that require minimal light. But personally i find that its difficult to control, in time I always end up with algae. Eventually i shifted the tank away from the window.
But wat happen to me may not happen to you. you may be doing everything rite, just wait and see and experiment and explore and enjoy!!
I recently got some seachem excel and 13w clip on lighting to see if my plants will grow.
That's better.
It's never recommended to place a planted tank under direct sunshine, else algae will come out.
I think you have a brown spot algae there.
Get some otto, will do the trick.![]()
