    Re: Crypt id

Confirm that this was collected from Java? Do you have any further information of the natural habitat (i.e. photographs of the leaves or better still of the spathe in the nature) as it would be difficult to ID the right species unless you found the opened spathe too. The colour / length of the leaves may change according to changes in cultivation environment so it is not too good a basis to judge.

There are not much records on the internet of cryptocorynes found in Java but if we make references to cryptocorynes found in nearby Malaysia Peninsula, Sumatra or Borneo instead to make a wild guess based on cryptocorynes which might have such leaves, it could possibly be C. affinis, C. keei, C. uenoi, C. striolata, C. hudoroi, C. bullosa, etc or something new?!?!?!?

What to do? Slowly cultivate them emersed to flower them for ID loh.

Did not take pictures of the habitat. Its found in this large spring water pool in Java. All are growing in the water. I will need to ask my friend to pass me more specimens as i took only 1.

The waterparameter can also help to shortened the guessing scope.
If it is in slight alkaline water, might be C. affinis.
