water cooler as chiller

read somewhere someone had the idea of using those water coolers as a chiller...wonder if the idea was successful or if anyone has done it before ?

I think it'll work, since technically it's no difference from an actual chiller. BUT, there is not temperature controller, temp sensor and piping to match pump flowrate. So, probably alot of modification if want to make it work for our purpose. I think.

i dunno if those water coolers run cheaper than normal aquarium chillers but as far as i know a normal water cooler does not cost much maybe 2-300 bucks

with that price you probably can get 2nd hand chiller depend on the horse power (hp). Unless you love DIY

i HATE DIY ...but maybe the water cooler got more HP ? just wondering ...cause maybe 2-300 bucks can bring down the temp of 4-5footer than its worth it

That may not be true because the capacity of water cooler is only couple of liter. I never have one so can't be 100% sure
