Red red...nice....Its not your first pair right? Is the pair from C328 or Biotope? Any thoughts or success on breeding them so far?

Bro, no pictures of the female?
The female is just as gorgeous.

I've a pair of D. filamentosus, though not D. maculata, it's still as beautiful.
This is definitely one species i like to keep at least once in my life and not to forget D. gladicauda!

Anyway, does anyone have the paper for this species and D. filamentosus?

Just gotten this pair from C328. Didn't see any at Biotope. No intention of breeding. pH should be neutral.

Female looks good only when she's in the mood for breeding. Then will she have more yellow orange ventrals. At the moment ventrals faint yellow and overall plain coloured.

mmm... Dicrossus filamentosus are called checkerboards. So I guess D. maculatus can also be called checkerboard.

Ya got it 2 - 3 days ago. It was pale looking but thought the body proportion looks good and given better water condition should colour up.

This fish looks so different from the one in the first post. The finnage is just superb.

    Re: Dicrossus maculatus

Not really. Pair in first post didnt wait till they acclaimatise. As in bought them day one and took photo on the same day. (can't wait) Also this pair is younger and smaller. And kept them in unpeated water.

The wild pair is matured adult. Had them for about 3 months already. Kept in peated water.

In my opinion, the pair from C328 and the wild pair looks the same (Kept alot of maculatus before). I wouldnt think the wild is of a better quality. Given time and peated water, the pair from C328 will looked similiar. Also latest photo was taken with dslr camera whereas the photo in first thread was taken with an idiot proof camera. Camera does makes alot of difference.

The female looks very plain at the moment. Used to own a captive bred female with orange ventrals though she wasnt in the breeding mood.

But in any case Im very happy to own a pair.

    Re: Dicrossus maculatus

    They are not checkerboard, marle.
Checkers are known as Dicrossus filamentosa
Maculatus are bigger than checkerboard and more challenging to spawn...
