No they don't eat algae.
Yes they eat shrimps.
They harass snails like malayan trumpet until they don't dare to surface.
If you need more, go to Qian hu for a nice suprise.
Just bought 3 of them from NA. Was told they eat algae, wonder if true? Do they eat small shrimps like malayan or cherry shrimps? Do they eat small snails? Very cute fellows. Link here: http://www.loaches.com/species-index...ia-sidthimunki

Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
Agree they don't eat algae after my 3 days of observation but they don't disturb my malayan or yamato shrimps so far. Even one dead shrimp in the tank, they do not seem interested as well. they seem like always swimming about and finding left over fish food at the base.
