First time apisto keeper. got a pair from Biotope "paracuuba", then added 2 females "careiro" from bro iwishweallcouldwin. Small 20L tank, water change twice a week with aged water. Females not in the mood for brooding yet, but I doubt I'll be successful given my limited space, and the numerous tetras and rasboras I also have.

    Male "Paracuuba"

    Female "Careiro"

Probably haven't got the time to breed them. Not in the office anyhow!

    Familiar? why so?

    Yup, from Biotope!

There were a few pairs there, but this pair looked the most healthy and were feeding well. Some of the others had sunken stomachs...

I don't know, but trawling through the forum, I don't see many bitaeniatas with blue fins? Mostly yellow/orange, and some nice red specimens!

Blue bitaeniatas used to be more popular some time back, but recently orange has caught on in popularity

Put a mirror in and you will see your blue bitaeniata turn into a red bitaeniata. All my red bitaeniata pics in this forum look like yours when they are not flaring.

Nice bitaeniata male . I miss my deceased male bit which had the similar blue fins and high dorsals. Hope your pair will get to spawning activities soon. Good luck.
