    Hu guys
my tank has been set-up for 4 days now... and my red cabomba has grown like a weed!
The problem is that the cabomba keeps on dropping those small leaves that they have and its all floating on my surface. Which is really unsightly. []

To get rid of this problem i have decided to get a surface skimmer. I understand that it pulls the surface debris into it? So i just have to wash the skimmer to get rid of blockage? And it is coonected to the filter input so i can remove the cage-like thing that is part of the suction input?

    Please advise.... many thanks. []

How about just using a fishing net to scoop up the dead leaves? Something may not be right if the plant keep dropping leaves.

I tried using a fishing net to scoop up the leaves but the cabomba leave are so fine that they stick to the net and when i try to scoop up another time theyfloat back into the water... so back to square one... thats y i thought of getting a surface skimmer...

But my plants all flourishing and bubbling except for a 4-colour lotus i picked up at the workshop.

Use a fine net (the 1s we use to handle BBS and daphnia) to swoop up the leaves. Cabomba will always shed leaves that fail to get enuff light. The problem was quite bad for me when i packed them too close.

Glad to hear that ur plants r flourishing and it's no big deal that ur lotus isnt bubbling if it is healthy and growing. Many a time in LFSs, we see a beautiful stream of bubbles cos there is a hole in the leaf.

I have been trying for days and there is always leaves there floating... really ugly. You don't recommend a surface skimmer?

My 4-colour lotus... it doesn't seem to be growing. It looks... stunted.. hehehe. Hope it grows out well... []

I dun recommend a skimmer cos your Cabomba should stop shedding leaves by the end of the week if it is doing fine in ur tank.

My MMs gave me the same problem for 1+ week. this happened straight after I dumped my Cabomba for MMs. Yah... I know, what a joker rite?
