How about a 'log' or a 'fallen tree'?
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
boss i bow down to your tank. Marvelous!!!!!!!!
Advice from boss Felix
Without a doubt, the best aquscape I've seen in ages. personally I wouldn't add any more flora for a while just to see how it fills in. I love the moss idea on the river banks if you think its too straight you could add some small woods and stones here and there to look like log jams. As for fauna, I agree with the less is more school of thought, How about white cloud mountain minnows? I know they are very common, but I think a small shoal of about 20-30 would resemble a bunch of song birds flitting about in the forest. Just my 2 cents keep up the good work!
But the guy at the LFS said "they'll be FINE together!"
Thanks everyone,
Working on the "naturalisation" of the scape... puttting logs, creating more scape, trimming for plant growth and watching my rocks and lines in the tank. Thanks for the suggestions.
On a separate note, I ordered my fishes today and they'll be in this weekend!!Keeping them in quarantine for a week or so before sending the lot into the tank.
Will take some pics of the fishes..![]()
Wow it already looks like a forest path to me. Can't wait to see what fishes you plan to add in.
needless to say awesome and impressive creation of forest pathway ... smart way of doing the path separator i never thought of that. the tree trunk look abit bare, any thoughts to tie up something? putting the log i think is very good idea to recreate forest pathway feel.. maybe can tie up something on it too, leaving it bare is not too bad either. anyway cant wait to see you final piece... love ur scape.other than fish any shrimp coming along soon?
Wow ranma. This is creative. At first I thought the wood were all a little too straight but the latest pic proves me wrong.
9 pieces of wood is the magic number imho. And maybe some moss at the top and crevices of the nearest "trunks"?
Fast-moving schooling fish for this tank as well to dart in and out of the depths? Or slow ones to emphasize the "quiet in the woods" feeling?
Good job man.
Good work Satome san, looks like a tranquility park. Better if added a miniature garden bench along the edge of the road.![]()
Absolutely stunning, I like the dept, but somehow I find the path abit too neat to be natural, perhaps scatter some "pebbles" along the side of the path at a later stage would make it look even better.
How about adding some red stem plants at the back?
...I love rubies too ...
Ken
Hey Ranma,
Interesting concept. Where did you get those driftwood?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments! Glad you all enjoy it.
This week will be trial week. Going off to Vietnam for 10 days and hoping the tank can take care of itself!!
This will also be quarantine time for the fishes. Have 2 or 3 choices so will post them up for your comments.
Thanks Laban and Squee - Will definitely consider the "mossing" of certain trunks in the naturalisation process. I'm thinking about gonig for slower fishes... might prove easier to take a photo WITH fishes in the future.
Thanks Fei Miao for that suggestion - this will also be under the naturalisation process. i do agree with you on the neatness of the path. However, i want to wait until the moss grows out to see how that affects the path. If the moss naturalises the path on its own then i might not toss too many smaller pebbles in there. But see how la, i know pebbles will help... its just how much... Thanks for the suggestion.
Vinz - You can't imagine how long i sourced for such ordinary looking driftwood! i've been a pest to Roland, Biotope, Vincent and who knows who else..haha..Thanks to those people i got the drift wood from.. you've been hella patient with me..haha..
On The topic of driftwood...
i was looking at the tank today and thought that perhaps the perspective transition is a little too harsh... i mean.. looks at the thickes "trunks" then look at the next thickest " trunks....Dont you feel that the difference is too drastic too fast?
I'm thinking of replacing these 2 Wood (badly drawn red arrow) pieces with something a little more beefy... something perhaps about twice as thick (Width of current wood plus brown markings)??
Any thoughts if i should?
yeah now that u mention it.. i think should go ahead with your solution.. ease out the thickness of the trunk slowly..![]()
I find the woods at both sides quite symmetrical after viewing sometime, especially the 2nd roll onwards. It gives a sense of not natural and stiff, i know is difficult to find one that fits, thats why it make the scape more challenging. IMHO

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! TIME TO LAY BACK AND RELAX!
A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With A Single Step
yes, need to make it look more natural a bit... but the scape is already very good!
hello
i like a lot... at the begining i tell to my self... hummm i dont see future in this layout... but now i like it... i think a bite more time and plants.... its![]()
IMHO, in the wild, trees tend to group according to their age and locations. The tertiary and secondary forest normally have smaller and younger trees, which are nearer to the edges of the forest. The matured trees are usually further away from the edge. Hope that help you.
