chiller & filter flow rate

hi all seniors here,
can a filter of 650l/h flow rate go with 1/10 chiller 900/3600l/h flow rate?
or is it advisable to get a filter wi flow rate 1050l/h?
2.5ft by 1ft by 1ft tank size, shrimp tank

650lph would be underpowered for the chiller though.
Guess a concern is the strong current. I am using a atman1200 (~1350lph i think) on a 2ft shrimp tank running on a resun cl300. Using a rainbar reflecting the current off the back of the tank, creating good surface current. Low current at mid to bottom. Shrimps having a great time

Did an experiment using a eheim ecco 2234 chiller took on ave 3-6mins longer to cool to same temp setting. Just sharing my experience

hey thanks a lot, u so pro. yes the concern here is the current.
am i rite to say yr 2234 which is 500l/h can also do the job, just that is take longer time.

Ya there are often disagreements regarding flowrate for chiller. However the rule of thumb is to stickw within the chiller's specified flowrate. Generally we are all very 'kiasu' when it comes to chiller operating costs. every min of power sumed up counts to the power bill

The higher flowrate canisters usually have larger media capacities, good for an army of BB

Just sharing my personal experience on my chiller

ya, ve decided to go for 1050l/h filter with 1/10 chiller..

my kiasu here is, i just ve to copy wat seniors here ve did, i wun go wrong, more important is the shrimps are hapi..
