hey guys, its been some time since i kept apisto or cichlids..
bro scope was kind enough to help me bring in a wild pair in from taiwan.
    thanks bro..

    still in the bag.

    female.. love the bright spots!

released into the tank after dripping water into for a few hours..
    the male.

hopefully can turn out to be a stunning pair.. would be feeding NLS cichlids formula and frozen bloodworm.

Something that we haven't seen around for a while. Do update us about the pair's development evo. They look like they're going to enjoy living in that lush green tank.

Nice catch there, Evo. They look like a young pair. Should give you a long period of time to enjoy them and grow them up.

    Re: Taeniacara candidi.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your female

The male is colouring up very nicely...T. candidi is still one of my favourite dwarf cichlids...ranked not far behind Ap. bitaeniata!

    Sorry to hear this.
i suspect the female died from PH shock after putting into the tank judging from what stated...happens sometimes to wild fishes.

    Re: Taeniacara candidi.

i don't think so leh.. i checked the water for both pack before adding on.. female's pack was 6.4 and male's pack was 7.0.
my tank water around 6.4 - 6.5 (according to my pH test kit). female pH same as tank water... i believe too stressed by the flight and stuff and it might have disease in the first place.. well.. im happy that you got me a beautiful active male bro! of all the apisto i have kept, this male is the first to get active and eating well so quickly.. colouring up too. like to flare at my ember tetra.. i believe i would be ordering female from c328 if they still have.. if not may source from other place.

    Re: Taeniacara candidi.

Maybe too stress? I also encounter the same problem before... That's why always get more than a pair! A trio or 2 pairs.. So that this problem doesn't happen..
Anyway cheer up dude.. You can try ordering from c328 or biotope?
Glad that you're back into apisto.. But don't give up so fast boy haha...
If i happen to see any females will let you know.

i have a good look at my candidi just now and i noticed something. his right side gill looks like a defect..
    heres the left side.

the right side, see the hole? looks like the gill plate not completly grown? issit of any problem?

anyway, heres him flaring at the mirror. hopfully that gill thingy is nothing of a problem.. goning to get de-worm powder for him as suggested by yixiang.

That's probably an injury from a fight, don't think it's anything serious.

    Your fish looks really fat!
