Which Moss do you like?

Hey folks,

I wonder what moss preferred by many so Im posting this up to see.

I dont know if Peacock and Taiwan moss are available in Singapore. I bet Java Moss can be found easily.

I grow Peacock and Taiwan moss in my tank.

I saw the display tank at CRS heaven with spikey moss & i think they are really nice. I bought some & hope it grows well.

there are plenty off different moss here

Java moss = Taxiphyllum barbieri
Taiwan moss = Taxiphyllum alternans
Spiky moss = Taxiphyllum sp.
Flame moss = Taxiphyllum sp.
Mini Taiwan moss = Isopterygium sp.
Singapore moss = Vesicularia dubyana
weeping moss = Vesicularia ferriei
X'mass moss = Vesicularia montagnei
Willow moss = Frontinalis antipyretica
US fissiden = Fissidens fontanus

and many other

I like Taiwan moss for its fast growth rate.
For beauty, nothing beats fissidens; IMHO.

Hi naturalmystic,

Taiwan moss is really fast growing. I like its fronds.
I just got Fissidens from Taiwan the other day. There are US sellers but its too pricey.

I havent seen mini pelia in LFS. Can it be grown on driftwoods?

Yes it does. These are how I tied to my driftwood(The centre piece). I also tied them to the lava rocks. The two side by side to the driftwood. They are starting to grow. I am thinking of selling some.

Those are nice Fissidens you have.

All the while I was growing Peacock and Taiwan moss. Once I'am a Java Moss lover but I give up on that species. I just recently bought a small portion of Fissidens from Taiwan to start with.

Do you know what algae loves to grow on Fissidens and how do you treat them?

The picture that shows the long driftwood with the lava rocks are mini pelia, not us fissidens. Maybe is my photography issue. Unless u are referring to the other photo found in the flicker album.
