    Hi fellow fish hobbyist,

Please help me how to distinguish a 0.5cm A. cacatuoides from a A. agassizii "Amadeus" fry, since I mixed them in a 2-ft tank due to lack of cyled tank that time. Now, I am planning to separate them in two separate tanks.

Need your help, pictures will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance.

I think cacatuoides generally has a stockier body and has a larger jaw compared to agassizii. Also if your cacatuoides is the common type then probably it'll have some markings on the fins. However if your fry are very young it might be very difficult to differentiate.

Wait till they grow 2-3cm bigger, you can easily separate them..
0.5cm fries can't really see much...

@limchongyu and exotic_idiot: Thanks for your reply I will convince myself to wait few more weeks to separate them, perhaps a month.

0.5cm may be too small to sex the females but its possible for male since some male cacas will exhibit some colors on their dorsal at this size. Another way is to look at the abdominal bars which are not present in an agassizii.

So far any luck in separating them?
But once they grow bigger not really hard to do that.
Lucky you are not putting the same species but different varies inside same tank if not i wander how are you going to separate them?

Re: Help: Need to Separate A. caca and A. agassizii fries

for now, i need to let them swim in the same tank until 1cm perhaps...
and i think even observing of the abdominal bars, as suggested by gene, is uneasy. So, I need to wait at least a month
